Tube rope sucked & engine stopped

Funny but I learn a lot carry a knife Allen key sets, and never be alone, tube rope got sucked through water inlet guard and twisted on the impeller shaft till stop it to rotate and the engine stopped, lucky many people around ridding theirs skies and just been pulled the coast by one of them I had two kids with me..we turn my ultra on its side and start cutting the rope by borrow knife from near restaurant on the coast so no tool with us no Allen keys to open the guard, it took long tine to free the impeller shaft and to start the engine..never go alone with out tool lesson learn

Next time, use your toolkit and remove the spark plugs. This will make it a LOT easier to turn the driveshaft backwards, unwinding the rope. Most of the time, the rope isn't even cut. Of course, don't turn the 'Ski over in the water with the spark plugs out! You can grab the drive coupling to turn the driveshaft.

I sure wouldn't try to take the intake grate off out in the middle of the water. Not necessary, and it's too easy to drop stuff in the water.

    Question ? Rope/ Noise

The same thing happened to me, I was in front of my dock ( that makes it
my fault) I towed to landing and removed the rope. Now the ski makes a rattle noise with a hose running water in driveway, I have not water tested yet. I have never ran it out of the water before. How much noise does a ultra 250 make out of the water? I looked on you tube but only found out how loud you can make (straight pipe)
Do you think it is safe to water test?
    Thanks,
    Jim
