    GP1200R rev limiter issue

    Heres a quick rundown on my ski:

    2000 GP1200R

    Rejetted Carbs
    Flame Arrestors
    Free Flow Exhaust
    Jetworks Mod
    Pro-Tec 150psi Head
    800R intake grate
    Jims Plate
    nujet 6.5 impeller
    5hr old Pro-X Pistons

    At the beginning of the season, my ski was running great, no issues at all

    Then, about a month ago, one of my pistons chipped (they had 250hrs on them) and luckily did no cylinder wall damage. So, I replaced all 3 pistons with Pro-X replacements.

    Since the rebuild, my ski hits the rev limiter (Im assuming this, no tach) when im running WOT. Also, there is no longer a smooth transition from the power valves being closed to when they open. It feels like turbo lag, all of the power slams at once (around 4500ish RPMS) Currently, my assumption is that since the engine has new pistons/rings it is making more power.

    What should I do to keep it from bouncing off the limiter? A new impeller? If so, which one? Thanks.

    If you are hitting the rev limiter check to see if you have a bad impeller or a big gap between the impeller and wear ring.

    Jim, thanks for the reply.

    There was a ~.020" gap between the wear ring and impeller. Also, the impeller was looking a bit rough. Needless to say, I replaced the impeller (with another nu-jet 6.5) and the wear right. However, the problem still exists - It's hitting the governor.

    Any input would be great, thanks.
