    Are these crank seals oriented correctly?

    I'm not 100% sure on those seals, the kit I used worked a little differently. However, is that the crank you're using for the rebuild? It looks pretty rusted.

    No...just an old core. The seals didn't look right at first...I wanted to mock it up with old parts before I got my fingerprints on the new crank!

    I'm pretty sure those seals are correct. I assume you're just missing the clip for the front flywheel side (which I'm sure you know). The new kit I got for the rebuild didn't use any of those clips. The rubber was metal reinforced and just fit in the grooves.

    The front seal goes into the front cover not the block

    The groove where you have the front seal is for a retaining ring (item #15)

    Also check out the manual starting on pg. 316. It talks about the positioning of the bearing retainer circlips. The open ends are to be positioned up.

    Ahhh......thanks!! It's been so long since I tore this thing down, I couldn't quite remember how it all went.

    I'm sure there will be more dumb questions...
