i talked to my uncle about painting my jetski

i dunno if u know the whole story but wen i got my ski it had boat bottom paint on it

i sanded it all off but now i need to get the original jetski paint on the bottom. its a 2002 gpr800

my uncle told me to brush on white epoxy paint then give it a light wet sand and im good to go.

When i had my wifes ski painted they used base coat clear coat with a flex agent in the paint for fiberglass.

I just had both of my skis painted by a friend who does it professionally. You can use either Bondo epoxy resin or west systems 105 resin with a filler to patch any holes or scratches you have...then he sanded the entire ski top and bottom with a 600 grit sand paper, foam pad and finally a D/A where he could actually get it to fit. Provided he didn't break through the primer he could just paint it and then clear coat...if he did break through or along the areas that were filled with epoxy he just sprayed primer on it and then painted it.

base coat clear coat is the way to go!
just ask your supplier for a high solids clear, thats where your protection comes from.

Base coat clear is a good way. A good 2 stage urethane will hold up good and it will flex. Thats all we would put on bumpers just make sure to add all the right hardners and thinners. you can spray it very easy your self but just remember by the time you buy the gun all supplys and figure out a way to build a couple walls and try not to pi$$ of the people around you because of the over spray you might just be better off having someone do it

But will the paint on the bottom still hold up to being beached?
