Odd 00' xp fuel gauge problem

Ive read thru the other threads but my problem seems different. The gauge is working but at a full tank it reads half and once it dropped 3 gallons or so it showed almost empty. Would this just be a bad float???

The floats can fill with gas and start to sink.

It is a pretty easy change on an XPL. Just take the seat off the front pivots and swing it out of the way. Pull the rubber plug out of the hole in the top of the hull and the baffle is right there.

If it still has the gray fuel lines, it would be a good time to replace them.
