    cracked plug

I just rebuilt my GP1200r from the bottom up, took it out for the first time today, was running great not getting on it to bad as om coimming across the lake it starts bogging so i shut it down, start it back up and its running great then bogging again, so i limped it back to the dock put it on the trailer got it home and found the number one Cyl has a Cracked Sparkplug on the top side allthe way down to the base of the plug .. BR8ES all new plugs.. my question is would this cause the ski to run that badly ?? has anyone ever seen a brand new cracked plug ??

    thanks
    Brandon

Hello Brandon yes it will run bad if a plug is cracked, They usually crack when you are tightening them and the spark plug socket is not straight on the plug because you will put pressure on the side of the porcelain .

+1 on what Jim said + check your socket and make sure the rubber piece is still in properly!

I used to do a little racing (not skis tho)and when working on an engine if we even dropped a plug on the manifold or any hard surface at all (especially the driveway), we just throw them away. You would be surprised how easy it is to crack the ceramic on a plug. And sometimes you can't even see a hairline crack but your engine can....
