how to paint a ski? What tools are required.

Well come the end of the season i'm going to want to redo my ski's paintjob, so what guns are good and steps do I need to take to redo it correctly. I'm going to get the stuff early to practice before I attempt on my ski.

I have found what people use, which is automotive paint, base coat clear coat. But I want to know what would be a decent gun to shoot with and the steps to make it look as good as possible.

    Smile the most important thing...

yet the most unexciting part is surface prep, the second most important thing is...surface prep. right next in line is a very very clean place to paint. If you don't have one you can build a mini spray booth out of 1 inch pvc pipe and some heavy duty plastic tarps.

Of course you can take my approach and paint the entire ski with spray on truck bed liner out in a gravel parking lot with a 20 mph wind blowing and just forget about stripping off the old decals and graphics..that spray on liner works wonders covering up slick and glossy paint

id love to see what that looks like. I was thinking of spraying my trailer and the lower part of my truck with bedliner

Use a SATA Spray Gun. excellent gun, expensive but worth every penny!

I've heard of SATA guns. They are really good. I don't think the spray on bedliner will work to well with the look i'm going for. But it would seal up any leaks that I may have.

if you invest in a sata, make sure you buy a good gun cleaning kit or brushes to take care of it.

you definitely will need different ones for that, when you buy a gun from who ever, they should be able to sell you that to. also depending on what model you get, there is sometimes disposable filters in the cups, get a couple of them right away.

    hope this helps
