    4-Tec zincs - post around 2006

    Anyone have one?

I hav e been looking thru the parts lists and see the zinc on the ride plate, but I am not finding any kind of bonding cable to the engine ground, is there one on these late model machines?

I am looking to retro my 2002's which I use 100% in salt water.

The engine is grounded through the drive shaft to the pump housing. The ride plate is isolated so it has it's own zinc anode.

interesting - 2 more quick ones

    1) Does the zinc on the plate actually work without bonding to the engine?

    2) Where do they mount the zinc on the pump

    Richard,

GTX 4Tecs without the metal pump do not have the zincs installed. Not even one on the ride plate. When I converted my GTX to a metal pump, I installed one on the pump and the ride plate. You could put one on the ride plate, but IMO unless you leave it in the water it is really not needed.

    1) Yes, the zinc on the plate works to keep the plate from getting eaten up.
2)The zinc on the pump is mounted on the side of the pump and grounds the pump and the engine.
