Thread: Hull painting?

Once i get everything sorted out mechanically on my sl 780 im planning on painting it. Ive painted lots of stuff before (car parts, boat trailers...) but never a boat. Will automotive paint work? Im just wondering what kind of paint is best and if there are any special procedures i should follow. I really want to do a satin black finish. Any ideas?

I used crossfire paint from NAPA. We painted 4 ski's with it and the stuff works great. I believe the base was like $35 a quart. You use 8-4-1 ratio of paint to reducer to hardener. Their clear is 4-1. Have had no problem yet after 4 years. Hope this helps. Mike

that looks pretty good ujustlost! thanks for the tip. is that stuff like an automotive type paint or is it some special purpose stuff. If its auto im wondering if that duplicolor paintshop stuff will work. Ive used it before on car parts and it works great. cheap and easy too cause there in no mixing necessary
