    Injection to Premix

I have a leaking oil tank on my 98 gsx limited and would like change to premix. Can I just take the small hoses off the pump and plug or plug them together?Or is there more than what meets the eye? Also, what ratio would you run? I use 32:1 in my 00 rx,but thats because former owner said to.
    Thanks, Paul

It is best to remove the pump and install a block-off plate. You will want to plug the small lines, I would think or run them together. Either way, they should not be left open. I doubt that pump will last long with nothing to lube it. I think most guys also pull the mag cover and take off the oil pump drive. I would suggest doing so, anyway.

I think some guys have had success fixing those leaky tanks. If you do a search you should see how.

I recommend against pre-mix on anything but a race boat for various reasons but it is your ride so do as you feel is best.

+1 on block off plate being a good idea. Then the ends of the lines that used to run from the pump to the rotary valve (on the RV end) are blocked, and the line that runs from the tank to the former oil pump is capped or tie-wrapped closed. At least, that's the idea on a 787, I'm thinking it'll be the same general idea for you.

Forgot to add, as for the ratio, your owner's manual should have that info, or rather service manual. I know in my Yami service manual it tells me my ratio is 50:1.

Also, you could try and fix or replace the tank, or go to premix. Up to you.

Lastly, check out the discussion here: http://greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=96835, and about keeping Mr. Rotary valve fed and happy

Wow, I keep getting schooled by Krunchov At least I'm learning something new. I'm not a Doo man myself (except for Ski-Doo, the 583s and 670s), so I probably should've looked up whether a 951 has a rotary valve or not.
