I would go with a Lowell ported 1300 over a groupk 1390 any day, I have seen too many groupk 1390's perform worse than Lowell's ported 1300's and Lowell's 1390's that's another story. follow the link in my sig or just ask around, night and day difference. Spend your money wisely is all I can say.

I bought a set of 1300 sleeved PV cylinders and rebuilt my xl1200 last year, took some time getting the jetting, ride plate, impeller tuned and all ready have 40 hours on it, now I bored need to tinker with some project this winter, but I need it to run on 87/89 octane, that's why the group k 1390 looks good, the xlt runs to good to mess with I might look for a blown gp1200 for a 1390 winter project

    Question

i tried to get in touch with group K to discuss the 1390 kit that they have for an xlt, but there was no answer by phone or E-mail. I like them because i can see all the details of the kit on line. Lowells website has 3 pictures and seem out of date.

Also, does lowell have 1390 kit or just porting services?

And what is the differance between group K and Lowell, i see people leaning towards lowell, why?

    Thanks for your input.

I have the 2 seater with the big bore 1390 kit and it runs 73 all day long (faster depending on conditions, octane, etc.).

WOW! The forum turned into a GroupK-A-thon in a couple of hours. WTF? The only thing Ill say is they are good at the Yamaha stuff but they leave some performance on the table...usually for reliabilities sake. Most of their stuff may not be quite as fast as others, but you can zip tie the throttle open and not worry about hurting a thing on their combos.
