    1999 slth no spark

I have a 99 SLTH with no spark. I had someone who was looking at it tell me it was the cdi. Is their a quick test to verify the cdi is bad. Brand new battery and the engine cranks good. Thanks

Was the person who looked at it familiar with Polaris PWC?

First check, put your multi-meter on the battery posts, and crank the engine. How low does the voltage reading drop?

If it drops below 10.6 volts, the battery is too weak, and the CDI will not produce spark. A healthy battery will delver 11.0 volts or higher while cranking the engine.

The battery stays at 11.7 volts while cranking. I have checked and I am getting 12 volts to the cdi power wire. I have verified that I am not voltage out from the cdi that goes to the stator(grey wire). I also have checked the coil box and I cant get any resistance reading from either of the spark plug wires to ground. Should I be getting a reading? Anything Else I should check?

Make sure the Red/Purple wire that goes to the actual CDI also has over 10.5 volts while cranking.

Is this the original 1999 ignition, or the Ignition System Update Kit?
You can tell which you have by which part number is on the CDI module.

If original, the diagnostics are listed in the 1999 service manual.

If it the update kit has been installed, then the ignition system diagnostics are different, using the 2000 and later service information.
