Thread: Exhaust Leak?
06-21-2009, 11:23 AM #1
Took ski out yesterday. Ran fine for about 45 minutes and started to stall whenever throttle was applied. After short time it would not start at all. Took seat off and lots of residual smoke inside. Got home and found what appears to be exhaust leak where old gasket failed. Would exhaust leak cause the stalling problem? Once home the ski ran fine on the hose with the seat off. Also confirmed the leak when the ski was running on the hose.

Welcome to the Hulk..
Yes and exhaust leak will cause poor running as the engine is breathing the exhaust.

thanks for the welcome. I have been lurking for some time and this is a great forum with tons of knowledge. I am sure I will have many more questions for all.

The leak is between the exhaust chamber joint and the exhaust manifold. Looks like someone reused old gasket. What gasket material could I use for fix? I really don't want to wait for a new OEM gasket.

The gasket is metal. If is still in good shape it can be reused. I like to use copper coat spray on exhaust gaskets.
