I would check the bearing with a dial indicator for any movement, then install a new wear ring... slam the prop back in and check for proper clearance between the prop and ring with feeler gauges. Also try using some 3M 5200 marine sealant on the ring securing screws.

You need to drill pilot holes into the wear ring before you put in the screws. What you are doing is causing the wearing to buldge inward where the screws are, and it's causing the impeller to bind... Ron

i have heard that the new wear rings are SUPER tight, as in too freakin tight for most of us other guys to install easily.
maybe for you they would be good?

are you going through alot of wear rings? Ive had major problem with the pastic pumps warping, got the aluminum upgrade on order right now so hopefully this eliminates my problems.

    .

Red Loctite is what you put on the screws to get them to hold in the plastic and be sure to give it time to dry before putting in the water. If the holes are a loose fit on the screws, rotate the ring a little and drill some fresh holes. be sure not to use a drill bit that's too big, seems like a 1/8" is the right size.
