Will it not wake up, or is the display blank? If blank, pull the plug on the back of the mfd and check for 12 volts between red/pur and blk wires. If you have volts, plug it back in with a good amount of force and see if the display comes alive. If it won't, you will need to replace it.

Thanks star, it does nothing. Just blank, as if the battery is disconnected. I'll unplug and check for power, then be in touch.

Also look for any signs of corrosion or moisture in the connections, both behind the MFD, and inside the electrical box.

If you have some electrical contact cleaner (not WD-40), spray it into the pin holes in the MFD plug connector, especially the connections for the black and Red/Purple wires.

Okay guys I finally had a chance to do some checking. I only show 1.3 volts at the mfd on the red/prpl to blk. I moved on to the box where I showed the same 1.3 at the fuse down current of the fuse but 12.4 at the feed end of the fuse. I believe both fuses I have must be bad. I thought having continuity meant the voltage would flow through, I guess I was wrong. Would we all agree?

Well if you read 12 on the line side and 1. something on the other, either the connection is bad or the fuse is. Looks like you found the problem.

Be sure to use a 1/4 amp fuse for the display, and 3 amp for the bilge pump.

I don't have a bilge pump, only 1 fuse in the box 1/4 amp for the mfd. Thanks for the help. One more thing while we're at it. Exactly how is the MFD secured to the boat, does the outer ring lock some how or what? It is just sitting in its outer ring housing right now with nothing to keep it from bouncing out except the wiring harness.

Theres a bracket that holds it in place with 2 thumb nuts holding the bracket to the mfd. See pics...although one nut is missing.

That's interesting, mine doesn't have that. Probably another one of those missing parts due to the Gulf of Mexico. I tell you that salt will tear up a stainless steel anvil!!

    33 ohm?

Okay then the MFD is back in business. I now would like to trick out the low fuel and oil so I don't have a constant alarm. I picked up a pack of 33 ohm esistors but have no idea what to do with them. Does anyone know of a play by play thread to take care of this?
