Rough water performance of 85mm Nozzle vs. 87mm Nozzle

I'd like to hear actual comments of rough water performance between the two different sized nozzles.

I'm contemplating the 85mm on a dynafly with either an 05 or a skat 14. Either one has NEARLY the same rear cone and mid-width. Both will have a dynafly.

Speculation is more than welcome, but I'd really like to know if any of our rough water brothers have tried them back to back.

    Mark,

My triple pipe came with an 87 milimeter nozzle on an 05 pump.

My 05 single has an 85 millimeter nozzle.

I put 85 millimeter on my tripple and lost 150 rpms.

I would "assume" that with an 85mm nozzle and an 05 pump, your pump would stay "loaded" more in the rough water helping you keep foward thrust.

Although I would "assume" too that the 87mm nozzle would provide a better holeshot and coupled with a 14vein pump give you the needed hookup necessary in the rough.

    Thanks Mark,
this is similar to what I was theorizing, but need to get the boat on the water, and test the 85/87 back to back.

Pump pic. Titanium 155mm pump. Dynafly mounted on the front. The tail cone looks brown...because it is. It is alodine chromium coated.

    Mark,

I would test for you, but my rpms dropped from 7600 to 7450 and I am afraid to run the motor that low.

I have nothing to back it up with but, it felt like it pulled harder at the lower rpms.

That is correct. I even called you and told you.

And the person who told me to try it said I would lose 150.
