    Cavitation question

Need advice ... My 06 GTX (65 hrs) seems to cavitate under moderate acceleration, if I back off throttle a little, it seems to hook up again. I checked the wear ring clearance with long plastic feeler gages and can get a .030 in. gage in. Is this number ok or too much gap or could it be something else?

    Thanks, John

The wear limit is .014" so your wear ring has twice the recommended wear. A new ring should improve your performance... Ron

    hi,
dont put there the stainless steel wear ring, because when you get some junk in the pump, then dies your prop...
That is why you have to take the OEM ring!

    I completely disagree.

When my ski was new, I sucked up a few small rocks, and they got pinched between the plastic wear ring and the impeller. Roasted the impeller and wear ring. Same ski caught a stick up in the intake, it wedged between the plastic wear ring and impeller, and bent the impeller and roasted the wear ring.

Went to stainless wear ring. Many times I have sucked up sticks and the impeller has sliced up the sitck and spit it out the back with zero issues.

It seems to act like a salad shooter!
