Does your State use titles or Just Bill of Sale and Registration?

Just as the title reads. Mississippi uses a Bill of Sale and or Registration for all boats and watercraft. Does your state do the same or use titles. I have had a few non believers that there are states that don't use titles so lets post what your state does.

Iowa uses an updated registration only!

    Illinois uses a title!

no title in NY or NJ for any vessel under 12'. transferrable registration and notarized bill of sale are needed to transfer ownership.

Nevada transfers titles. I bought a Colorado ski that doesn't do titles. To register it here in NV, I needed bill of sale, and they called CO for registration info, then issued me a NV title and registration.

Arizona does NOT have titles either. We use registrations, that are assigned titles once the non-titled state registrations are surrendered. I just sold a ski to California, and upon surrender of the AZ-Game-Fish registration, and a boat inspection, it is issued a California title.

In these states, including yours, this is considered a LEGAL binding document, and you are considered owner.

If you imply that your ski is registered but not titled then that could lead to confusion. Always clarify this ahead of time with whomever you are selling the ski to out of state, so that you don't confuse the hell out of them. Sounds like you are finding this out the hard way.

NM-title state. Cars and trucks and trailers coming in from out of state require vin# verification at a local DMV office
