Swapping trailers. What do I need?

    Hi -

I purchased a ski on a trailer this past weekend. It is a wide trailer, (possibly a double converted to a single). The trailer is too wide to fit in the garage. The dealer "said" he is willing to bring me a new trailer. I have my doubts on this however. We will see.

    2 Senarios:

    1. The Dealer "said" he is willing to help me and drop off a new trailer. Will I need to re register the new trailer?

    2. If this dealer decides he doesnt want to help me, I will have to go buy a used one from Craigs list. What do I need? Are trailers titled? Do I need to register it? Can I use the license plate off the old trailer?

    Thanks for your help!

    1. Yes.
2.Yes they are, and yes you have to register it as a different vehicle.

State Laws differ. Your mileage may vary.

I did some research and found that trailers under 2,000 lbs do not need a title in the state of Florida.

You need to take a bill of sale with you to the DMV. They may possibly ask you for a weight certificate.

***This next part is a guess of mine ***
Having a previous registration helps. I think it lists the weight on the card.
