    Starting Issue -- Need Help

    The battery is charged, solenoid is fine, all wires plugged in etc... The first time it tried to crank two quick revolutions, then we let off the button as to not fire the ski up. After that one time the starter just spins and spins. This ski started fine 2 months ago before I removed the engine for head work. I replaced the starter with one that I know for sure works and the same thing happens. No codes on the display or anything like that. The motor spins fine by hand. I'm not sure what's holding it back.. Both my engines (one that starts and the one that won't) have a free spinning gear in the engine part of the starter mechanism so I figure that can't be it. Any advice would be VERY HIGHLY appreciated.

    P.s. The starter was not so much as TOUCHED since it was last used to fire up this same motor.

    Are u saying the Starter just spins and the motor dosen't ?, or the motor spins over fine, and just won't fire up/start?

    Also was the PTO cover removed recently?

    That was quick.. found the problem.. all 3 rocker arms are cracked. sweet. anyone have an extra?

    How does this happen? The crank and cam lock tools were used for engine assembly.. The cam timing is at factory spec.. I'm clueless. This isn't the first time I've had an engine apart and it's never happened before.

    OUCH, that sounds expensive, between new bolts, and rockers. What caused that?

    Slightly warped from running lean. All new exhaust valves. Everything machined to correct specs by a professional machinest knowledgable in 4-tec engines...It has Riva springs. Everything else is stock.
