1996 XP New Battery & Starter not turning over?

I bought this ski and it needed some work. I replaced the starter and installed a new battery. I put the key on and I get two beeps and then nothing no turn over. I've checked all the fuses and they all seem to be good. The low fuel light is on but other than that everything else checks out good. I've tried the diagnostic mode and I recieve 1 long beep. Check all connections and everything looks good. Bad key?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

no click or anything? bad solenoid, bad ground, and have you connected the little black wire on top of the black box?

I've connected the little black wire to the battery and checked all the wires and still nothing. Is there a way to do an advanced diagnostics to figure out the problem?

not sure...i cant answer that. try taking jumper cables, attach the ground to the battery and to some place on the manifold...a bolt maybe.
if thats not it try jumping the solenoid and see if it cranks. if it does its your solenoid

I jumped the starter and everything works fine battery and starter. I looked again in the rear electrical box and there is corrosion around the wires connecting to the coil. I'm going to clean up and try that. I've checked all the fuses that I can find( 2 in rear electrical box and 3 up in the front computer) am I missing any?

Thanks again for your help! This is driving me crazy!

you have to jump the solenoid not the starter. if it cranks from there you need to replace that part. you think this is driving you nuts? take a look at my thread..mine is driving me insane

Airborne is talking about crossing the two posts of the starter solonoid (in the rear electrical box) with a screwdriver. If it turns over when you do this you have a bad solonoid (which I suspect you do).

You guys are right it's the solenoid. I changed the starter in my boat and in this ski at the same time and I was under the impression that they both had a solenoid attached to the starter. I'm buying a new one on Tuesday and hopefully that take care of that problem.

    Thanks again!
