cutting hole for rear exhaust tip, advice?
Any advice before I cut the hole? My rude tip came today. Fantastic looking piece.
What size hole saw should I get? Directions say not to use any larger than a 2 7/8 inch hole saw.

Use masking tape or the blue tape on the hull around where you are going to cut. Then tape the template over the tape. I used the riva tip it came with a template. not sure if the rude comes with one may be able to get template from riva site.

I prefer to use 2 3/4 and then use drimel to fit tip as tight asap. PLus the dremel cleans it up a bit.
it doesn't take much to get perfect fit.
use tape on hull where drilling.
run it backwards to get it started.
oh the smell.

+1 on using a couple layers of masking tape.
Also, after you make the cut, rock the hole saw 360' to put a slight radius to the edge, makes it easier to fit the tip.

Sounds good. Thanks guys.
So a 2 3/4 inch hole saw should do the trick? I'm sure it smells just like when I cut the hole for my UMI steering on my 96XP.

Keith, do you have a Riva template? That is important to get the hole location. If ya don't, I have a copy of it if ya want me to mail it to you or Fax is faster. Skoepp's post is the way to go.

Also when making the 4 bolt holes DO NOT use the template..Use the Rude tip..Slide the tip in and then mark your holes..
