some say its faster..( i bought a two bar toploader instead...) it would be easyer to clean if foul'd.. thou it also lets bigger stuff in...,it tends to clear easyer than just catching it on the bar and draging the stuff.. ( two bar's does make it easyer to just jump off and reach up and in to clean it out...)
its a catch 22

i bought an R&D intake, and now all i have seen is that they require tunnel reinforcement and pump seal kit. is it necessary or can it survive without it?

It's not worth the risk of having something come into the prop for very LITTLE gain. Once you hit any kind of chop in water you're going to come unhooked from the water anyway. Save your money to buy one for less than $130 in the GH store, or post a WTB in the classifieds. I'm sure there are plenty of used ones in good condition out there that someone whould send you.
