how to wire up a 3 way switch for bildge pump.

I know someone posted this, but I lost the saved link and have not been able to find the page with the search engine.

I have the Rule 25s PWC pump and their 3 way lighted rocker switch panal.

The pump only has a ground and power wire how do I wire it corretly to the switch so I use it both in auto or manual mode?

thank you guys for all your help!

I don't think you can wire a 2 wire pump up to the 3 way switch and have both manual and auto working. I think the auto/manual pumps have 3 wires, one for manual and one for auto. Did a wiring diagram come with the switch or the pump??

Your bilge pump by the sounds of it is not the auto version. My Rule has 3 wires, a Brown which goes to power, Black which goes to negative and a Brown/White which is for manual switching. I have it connected to a 3 way switch that has Auto/Off/Manual

Your pump has no manual mode... only a auto and ground wire. You can still use the switch... but it's really not necessary, unless it's the fully automatic pump that turns on every two minutes to sense for water. If thats your case... run the ground wire straight to the battery, run a fused 12 volts to the common contact on the switch... then connect your pumps positive lead to the auto output on the switch

found the link i was looking for

Several times however people were getting the pumps mixed up saying the pwc has 3 wires this is incorrect.

There are two pumps that look identical and have similar model numbers.

    1) Rule 500 model #25s - is red/white with a blue base. This is the one with 3 wires and can be used in auto or manual mode.

    2) Rule PWC500 model #25S-6WC - is red/white with a black base. This one only has two wires. So you can either wire it to an on/off switch or to a power wire that only comes on with the dess.

This biggest difference other then not being able to set the Rule PWC500 up for a manual operation is that the RULE PWC500 turns on every 20sec to look for water, where as the Rule 500 turns on only every 2.5min.

Hope this helps someone else when selecting the right model for what they want.
