Thread: newbie question

I just bought brand new rxt 215. My only problem is I should have bought the 255. How hard is it to replace the intake grate? I would like to replace with R&D grate. I have read some threads bought what is the degree of difficulty? DO I need silicone to seal it in place? And what is the grill piece they talk about? thanks for your help... bob

It's easy. Five bolts total with easiest access on anything I've worked on. Just use some lock tite to make sure the bolts hold in. I have an R&D and found the faster I go the smoother the ride. Skips over the chop like a fast motocross bike over whoops. I'm getting better gas mileage too I think.

It sounds to me like you are embarking on the road to greater performance, so it is more likely you will find the 215 more of a pleasure to work with, as all the things are well tried and tested.
Eventually you will find the intake tunnel problem a stumbling block.... But with the 215 hull, you should be ok.
Mods to give the 215 to 255 hp work out cheaper to get to the same potency.
Personally I would not have a 255, it looks bland in my opinion. (just my personal opinion of course)
Now look at you cash saved, with same performance.
It wasn't the wrong buy if you think about it. Just what is labelled "Older"..!!
