    96' Polaris SLX Stator

I am currently trying to replace my stator and I was wondering how to remove to flywheel. I have tried using a fly wheel puller and the darn thing is so tight. In doing so I have broken 3 pullers so far. Can anyone help me?

You have removed the big nut in the center of the flywheel - correct?

These things don't normally budge, or come off slowly. Typically, they launch off the shaft when it releases.

And you have inserted to three small puller bolts, and have tightened the large center puller bolt to a high degree of tension - correct?

Yes it finally popped off. Thanks

Once I get the stator replaced how do I check and see if the CDI is good?

    The engine runs?

CDI can not be checked. If the engine is not running properly, you check everything around the CDI. If it all seems good, then replace the CDI.

    This is a 1996 engine - correct?
Are you installing the Ignition Update Kit?

Yes it is a 96'. No I am not installing an update kit. What are the benifits in installing it.

    Have a look here.

    '...It WILL fail eventually...'

...The original factory ignition in these engines was not reliable over time, so Polaris issued ignition update kits.
Each kit includes an updated CDI module, magneto stator
    ...
