    Beware ss grate users!!!!

I drilled and tapped my OEM inserts and just did nt like the way they felt,,WOW im glad i did,, look how then this thing is after i retapped it. OMG this thing would have failed for sure i dont know from experience but i would say if the front of the grate breaks loose somebody is going to get hurt especially at speeds near or above 80 mph, just look how then it is,you can actually see the threads where the tap cut almost all the way through it.and this is a m8 x 1.25 ,,there way to thin to be safe.you guys who did this better check yours out before someone gets seriously hurt. jeff

yes, I tried to drill and tap the stockers... got a couple done fine, but got a little crooked on the last few and saw that the stockers are waaaayyy too thin

this is why I made the heavy duty grate mount

Rich you beat me to it, was about to say most have a modified grate mount. WFO sells them, you also get the tubing to go with it to replace the stocker. Contact him, great guy to deal with.

+10 I've got two of these now. He's got a VERY well made piece. After seeing the first I did not hesitate to buy a second. Now all of my grates/shoes are 8mm.

when you install these intake supports ,are you all grinding off the old insert tabs so they will sit flat?
about how thick are the new braces? 1/2 inch or so?

    Yup grind 'em flat.

The mount is more than 1" thick.

    Exclamation

I think it is posted somewhere, but if you install a SS grate, an heavy duty WFO grate mount is a must.
