Kana / Spectre Filter Mount Location

I've seen where most people who installed the Kana/Spectre 4" set-up have mounted the Filter either above the Fuel Tank on the Rear/Right corner or on top of the Fuel Tank on the Front/Right corner.
(and few other exotic locations w/ the right bracketry)

Has anyone tried routing the Kanaflex all the way up the right side of the Fuel Tank -- cross over in Front of the Tank behind the storage bucket and to the Left Front Hull area and mounted the Filter directly behind the metal support plate for the MPEM ?

It seems to be a pretty stable and dry location.

    Pros / Cons ?

    Thanx,
    David

    Stable/dry location

Too far from opening in front of seat to get really fresh air

I knew you would the first to comment Danny, thanx for your time

I understand that the "behind the MPEM" location is far from the "Seat Intake" area but if the OEM plastic ducting is still there placing that outlet downtube next to the relocated Rectifier Module (next to the Battery) there is air flow from there and crossing over in front and around/behind the storage bin to the MPEM area.

Perhaps not the "Best" airflow, but I am really hesitant to hole-saw (2) 2 1/2" holes for Flo-Rites on that right side area above the Right/Rear Fuel Tank spot.

If I had a solid mount for the Filter in that spot I might reconsider but that filter is kinda massive/heavy just to tye-wrap there on a 45' angle.

    Any suggestions ?

keep in mind the longer the tube, the more restricitive, keep it as short as possible, and as near a good air source as possible. pretty well decided the best spot is right up under the steering column in front of the big air hole...

Remove ALL DUCTING, front and rear...

Mount filter high, near opening...like this bracket we put on my father's T-X...http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=68048

OPTION = Mount 3" blower in rear vent hole to suck air out of hull, and blow it out...Thus not allowing any hot engine air to push forward, only letting the motor gulp cool air from opening...

I did it like Dannys Dads in the first link. Mine looks sweet. Fits great. Really stout. I can get pics for you guys. I put a extra bracket off of it to the seat mount up front.

    Yes,
I would definitely like to see some Pix of your project.

Post here or send to [email protected]

Also, Danny, do you have any Pix of the 3" Fan install area in the rear air intake area ?

I did a "blower-fan" install in my HX and it made a huge difference in performance. Amazing what happens when you let these mills breath a little clean cool air.

Thanx for your time and pix in advance.

    David
