That video came just in time. I found a chip in my hull just yesterday and was going to do a search on how to fix it. Thanks

Okay, I'm new to this and PWC so excuse the ignorance but I have a question about gel coat. I just recently purchased a couple 02 FX140's and being the perfectionist I am, wanted to fix some of the small scratches and dings. I purchased some gel coat and tried to clean them up but the problem I keep running into is, I keep burning through the old gel coat before I can finish sanding down the new coat. Any suggestions? I've used a block and i've also tried meticulously using an edge so to not hit any of the old coating, but still not matter what I've tried I keep going through.

I've been sanding down most of the way with a 220 grit, then move on to 600 wet/ 1000 wet.

as of now, I would prefer the scratches to the white/grey speckled look. Any tips or suggestions, or any easy way to touch up the grey?

    Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum. If I'm not mistaken, Yamaha hulls are "not": Gelcoat. They are painted. Sea-Doo(Bombardier) pwc hulls are gelcoat.

    Exclamation Paint or Gelcoat

Just a note to all, due diligence and research should be done to determine the type of outer coating your personal watercraft has. It can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

From there, the repair process can then be properly determined.
