Unhappy How to remove the forward reverse assembly in a 2003 Polaris Virage

WE have a 2003 polaris Viarge.
We have disconnected the cable and it is frozen. It won't move at all, we put penitrating oil on both ends waited over nite and still won't move.

Try moving it from the back nothing. How do you remove the cable after you disconnect it from the back?

    Layman terms please.

Thanks for any help you can give.

The cable is completely disconnected at both ends?

Since you don't have much to lose, try hammering on the rod end (not the adjustable screw on end fitting). If it breaks free, good. If not, nothing lost.

When you are shopping for a replacement cable, apparently the MSX 140 Reverse cable can be fitted to a Virage, and is a better cable.

I have not needed to change my own reverse cable, but the link above has a couple of photos of the cables, out of the hull.

I don't think there is anything tricky, just a retaining nut at the transom end. Have a look at the online parts diagrams.
