    1995 SLT Polaris starting problem

    I'm new to this so I need help please. New battery, fresh gas, no water in seperator, new plugs ---- I started ski up ran fine initially for 1-1/2 hours. Came back into cove and on idle died. No restart then nor hours later nor next day? Changed plugs no restart. Prior to this I had taken the waverunner to dealer,s shop where they replaced the main ground cable that had burnup?
    Should I be able to see any spark on plugs when still attached to wire, unscrewed out of head but held close to head? Should I be able to see spark from screwdriver inserted in plugwire and held close to engine block while cranking?
    Is the fuse in the electrical box only for the gauge readouts? Will the boat sart and run with a blown fuse? Can I replace the fusewith a standard 20 amp fuse?

    Check for spark with plug attached to the plug wire, and plug grounded to the engine. No spark? Check battery volts while cranking.

    What should voltage be and how do I hook up the volt meter? Do you know about the fuse?

    Check volts at the battery while cranking. You need atleast 10.6 volts for spark. There may be 2 fuses. One is a 1/4 amp for the display and if you have a bilge pump you will have a 3 amp for it. There is a circuit breaker that will pop up if over current is experienced. If the breaker trips, you won't be able to crank the engine.

    Please don't post the direct links for the individual files, as the file names or locations may change again at any time.

    Always link to this page, or even better, the front page

    That way, when the files move around, the web links can be updated, and everything will still work

    "What if I do not have the 10.6v minimum?" Also, I think I read that the individual coils are in series and if 1 is bad it will not let the boat start?

    If the battery is weak, buy a good quality new battery. A weak battery in a Polaris is just a headache.

    The ignition coils are in series on the Fuji engines (except Pro 785). You can test them individually for shorts or opens.

    Have a look at this;
    How to test CDI, Magneto stator coils & Ignition coils on Fuji engines

    And this page is useful too.
