    Which Oil Extractor?

I just got the Pella 6000 oil extractor. What a joke

Tried it on on of my old cars first before messing in the water. It took about 20 minutes and hundreds of pumps to get out about 1.5-2 quarts.
Or am I'm doing something wrong?

Might try it in the Ultra 250 but is definitely going back to the store.

Anyone else have good luck with another type?

    Oil Boy

Tempo makes the Oil Boy, product line was sold, so different name. West
    Marine stocks 'em.
Works great. You start suction, then it takes over and drains completely.
High quality construction. You can easily take it to a svc station to dump.
I've turned it over in the car and it doesn't leak even then.

Yup, I have the Pella as well, works fine! Are you sure everything is on nice and tight and you have no vacuum leaks?

Make sure that rubber doohicky with the little red nipple is on the top securely. I pump it about 10 times and it will almost drain the 4-tec.

You do have to pump a lot when the oil level is low and it starts sucking air...

Was the oil cold or hot in the car?

this is what i use... no pumping involved... supply it with air... stick the tube down the hole hot or cold oil... doesnt matter... of course cold oil comes out a little slower.. otherwise let it do it's job while you do other things

OK you all were correct. I must have not positioned the tube improperly in my car the other day.

Did my 250 Ultra yesterday and it worked great. Thanks for your help--I was about to throw the thing in the water
