    42LBs vs 38LBS injectors

I was getting ready to install my new 42LBS injectors and they are not the same physical length. I understand a bigger coil and outlet but they are 20mm shorter from the slot where they retaining clip goes in to the end that goes into the intake. Please excuse my ignorance this is the first time I have removed a fuel injector.

    Beerdart, thanks for the reply,
Here is a picture of the injectors the one on the right is the 42LBS units I purchased from the 4 Tech Performance. The one on the left is the stock 38LBS injector.

Those will work just fine... the stock one is just extended a little... look at where the o-rings meet up. I'm running the same ones... however the top clip will not work with the 42's but you don't need them anyway

I've installed a couple sets of those 42s and never had a problem with the clips. The one on the left.

. I see what you are saying but I guess the ones I had were'nt like that because I dont remember haveing any problem.. Looking at the pic the base of that injector looks grey. Mine were green so I guess maybe they were'nt the same. I have a green of 50s just like that also and the clip fits fine. Unless I just crammed it into the rail that much further.

... Your rail would have broke... they bottom out right where they need to be. The only thing that they do on the stock 38's is keep them from spinning and allows them to stay in the rail when you pull it... big deal On the 42's the clip groove goes all the way around the injector, so it would still spin with the clip even if you could get it on.

Ok I got my left and right mixed up. I was able to get the clip on just fine they went up into the rail with out forcing them. When the rail is mounted on the engine the 42LBS units do not go into the intake very far. The Oring does go in tothe intake though.
