GPS Speed from Last Night and Next Mods

So last night was the first time I had a real chance to GPS my ski thanks to Chad IBADTON.

    Conditions were

    91 Degree Water
    93 Degree Outside Air
4 Bars or so of fuel for each of us with fairly calm water
I was turning 8060 RPMS Max

    Max for me was 71.5
Max for Chad was 77.8 or so.

I still pull him out of the hole for a decent amount but he creeps on past me with his sweet RXP.

My ski mods are in my sig. I plan on installing the free flow pipe per mpowers post this weekend, filling my ride plate holes and then checking my RPMS and sending my prop over to EriK to try and get my RPM's up to around 8160.

Is 74MPH realistic with those last few mods??

    Thanks!

If I was a betting man I'd say a 2.5mph increase with just the addition of free-flo...fill holes and a little less prop...would be a stretch.

A 1.5mph increase seems more likely.

Have you thought about a lower temp T-stat?

UM.....your goal for RPM's on a P-X is 8000 even, anything higher and power is cut...

Have you removed the Flame Arrestor that is inside the intake manifold? is all the old hull vent tubing removed?

Danny, the rev limiter is 8200 on this ski, I have seen numerous postings and spoke to Erik at speedfreaks who all tell me that around 8160 is a target RPM to reach. I was told it does not start to retard until right around 8200.

That is incorrect. target for the rxps is 8100, target for the rxp-x is 8000 rpm..

    Hmph....if that's the case....then I'll requalify my earlier statement.

Adding a coupla mm to the existing prop plus the rest could get you pretty close to 74.

    Danny,

I see you and some people saying this, but others are turning 8100-8160 and also recommend the the higher RPM. Could you elaborate?

***EDIT*** I'ts morning here and I haven't made it through a cup of coffee yet.. LOL.. sorry to be repetitive I didn't read the entire post.

From what I have seen and read on the forum, BRP target RPM for their motors...based on information over the past 3-4 years...

04-05= 8100 peak power, fuel cut at 8150 (rev limit 8300)

    06-07 = 8140/8160 peak power, fuel cut at 8200 (rev limit 8300)

    08+ = 8160 peak power, fuel cut at 8200 (rev limit 8300)

    P/T-X = 8000 peak power, fuel cut at 8100-8160 (rev limit 8300)

*04-05 years in 50 rpm increments, 06+ in 20 rpm increments

You want to stick to 8100 on all SCIC units, and 8000 for the X units...

In my experience on MY X the rev limiter is 8200. I've never seen it go above 8200, but have seen it cut power at 8180 several times. This according to the stock tach only.

I too, have read 8000 for peak power. More so in the early days than now. It seems most are tuning for just above 8100.

I tune mine for a max rpm of 8060. Usually fluctuates between 8040 and 8060 until heat soak sets in. Then it's 7980-8000.
