ignition question on 1995 750 slt

Still struggling with this electrical problem. I have opened the electrical box and tested the electrical components, and checked then against your specifications. So far I have found the red/white to ground measured 1100 ohms, and the specs. say it should read infinite. Also the red/white to green/red measured 390 ohms, and the specs say it should measure 490. Does this mean I need a new exciter coil, or are these measurements within acceptable tolerances? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Where did you read red/wh to ground as a test? I've never seen that.

    If the red/wh to gr/rd is 390 and should be 490, that's a problem.

In the tech tips and info section. The third thread down is about how to test cdi, and magneto coil, etc. Technically, it says red/white to black should be infinite, but black is ground, right? Assuming the exciter coil is bad, do I need to replace the whole stator assembly, or can I replace this individual component?

    So it does...

I've never seen that test before now.

    Black is ground.

    Yes, the stator needs replaced.

Jetski solutions can rebuild/beef up your stator for around $170.

Or find another stator from a 750 (not a 93) or any 780.

A 650 will not work for you.

thanks for the helpful info. I'm hangin by a thread deciding whether to invest any more money or not into this machine. If replacing the stator doesn't solve this problem, I think I'm done.
