    Short block is assembled...

I spent this morning assembling the short block.

1211 on the machined mating surfaces of the crankcase.

1211 as a gasket sealer between the cylinder, and crankcase.

Now I have to wait 3 days, then I will pressure test the assembly. IF all is good, I will put the flywheel, PTO coupler, and all the other garbage on, and drop it in the hull.

Now I just have to find a cheap 0-10 psi gauge, and I should be able to put the leakdown test kit together...

steal the gauge off your well pump .. get a plug first... for the short time your using it you can just swap it back... otherwise you can prob get a cheap dial gauge at ACE or one of those cheap gauges off a foot pump or little 'shaker' pumps they plug into the car cigaret lighter...

( good thing about these is you return it to its intended use, costing you next to nothing)

Yeah! I do have a well pump. AND one of those shaker air pumps.. I just wanted a low numbered guage so I could get a more accurate reading. What was that red rubber crap someone was talking about from the hardware store? The stuff I can use to make the block offs...

a guage thats low shoudnt cost more than 12 to 15 dollars.. ace hard wear or true value... home depo may have low pressure stuff too..

ace also has that red rubber square material .. it wont be thick enough to resist 10 lbs air by itself... you need to make rough plates out of 1/4 inch steel or 5/16 aluminum, gaskets can be made with a paper punch and paper bought at the auto parts .........

You have been waiting for this I dont think you need 3 days for the 1211 to seal overnight should be more than enough.

Why did you use 1211 between the cylinder, and crankcase ?

Just a thin layer as a gasket sealer. Can't hurt!
