my 2001 virage tx idles ok but no acceleration

I have a 2001 virage tx that has been sitting for the past 2 years. I have replaced the spark plugs, drained old gas and it will not accelerate faster than about 5mph. I am new with these skis so my experience with this ski is VERY limited. I also put a new, fully charged battery and cleaned the connections as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Welcome to Green Hulk.

Is it a TX or TXI ?
Does it have carburetors ? The symtom you are describing is more common with the fuel injected model.

    Welcome

Any warning messages or red lamp on the display?

Does it run roughly, or smoothly at maximum power?

What is the maximum RPM shown?

Any unusual noises, like a whining or metallic grinding sound?

Does it rev up higher out of the water than in the water?

I would venture to guess that at least 2 needles and seats are stuck,or carb diaphram actuators are stuck to carb covers, not to mention, the filters probably pluged up,look at your spark plugs are they dry or wet??when giving it gas pull out on choke slightly to see if that helps,if it does carbs for sure.anytime old gas 6 months or more its possible to stick carbs, make sure you got all old fuel out,add at least 5 gallons of fresh.try starting it on land reving it up and actuating choke, sometimes this will knock needles loose, dont run it for more than 10 to 20 seconds out of water. If that doesnt help I would check compression, look at sparkplugs, see which are bone dry(tells you which cylinders not firing, you can also check to see if one spark plug is hot others cold)etc.this tells you which cylinder is not firing ),and pull and clean those carbs>Marvin
