    95 waveraider - front guard

i have some riva black thing at the bow of the ski. It goes around the front, while hanging from the bumper of the ski. I think that it is to slow you down faster, but really I do not know.

    (1) What is this thing?

    (2) What does it do?

that is a splash guard .. its to keep a Raiders notorious wet ride down a bit ( if you want those dreads to stay dryer ,keep it ,otherwise 'take it off get more speed ,with the reduction of frontal area resitance and get wetter lots quicker!!!

well...I hear what u saying....don't really care for the look....and this isn't exactly a dryland sport.

    (1) How much speed do you think is lost b/c of the guard?

how much of a difference does it really make, when it comes to the splashing? B/c I find that I get wet a whole lot. We really do not have lake flat water like u guys except for a couple of areas or unless if you are actually running the shoreline.

send a P/M to MPEAVLER on that, he's had a few Raiders...he may know..

me, I'd take the ugly thing off ,wear goggles and then flog the crap out of it in the gulf ..GP's can be a pretty wet ride too....I've experianced a few fire hose treatments that will strip the sun glasses right off !!

I have this Yamaha factory style of slash guard, I works great, with no loss of speed, when up on the plane, and on the gas.

I have never seen that on a ski???.. I was under the impression rasta has a lowered front skirt around the nose of his ski, thats mounted on the rub rail, that it deflects splash and spray... ????
