    Seadoo Storage Compartment Absorber

I bought a Seadoo Storage Compartment Absorber today from my local dealer but it seems stuck in the longest position (it will turn around) with no way i can push it down to allow me to fit it into place.

Does anyone know it there is a special way to do this or do i just need to hit it really hard with a hammer or something??

    Thank you

I've always unbolted the hood, lifted it slightly, attached the rod, and let the weight and angle help reattach it...

Unfortunately the rod is to long to fit into place without retracting it about 2 inches , and i cannot move it what so ever
