No Spark: All test good, now what

I am stumped.. I have 2 1994 sl 750's. One of them quit shortly after the first ride of the season. Now it has no spark. Here is what I have tried.
    • The stator and coils are all within spec.
    • New plugs, and tried old ones also.
    • Swapped the CDI with the running machine.
    • The stator wires have not been shorted and look like new.
    • All wires are connected and reseated to be sure.
    • All ground wires test perfect.
    • The battery is fully charged and cranks very well.
    • Removed blk/yellow wire to test kill switch, seems ok.
The only thing I can think of is that key the could have broke. But if that was the case, wouldn't it still spark, but just not at the right time?

    Welcome

Check the battery voltage with a multi-meter.

Must be over 10.5 volts while cranking.

    Welcome to the hulk Tom.

Was there any water inside the elc box at any time?

Sometimes the circuit board will get rusty/corroded and cause issue.

Is the circuit breaker tripped on top of the elec box?

Have you tried cutting the plug wires back 1/4" to expose clean wire?

    Still nada

I swapped the batteries from the running craft to the bad one. Still nothing.

No water damage or corrosion. It looks very clean.

Fuse on top is not tripped.

Checked resistance from coil to end caps. Right on spec.

Still confused on what is happening.

Tom, WELCOME to the hulk. There are 2 pieces of information that we really need to see here.
What is compression on all three cylinders?
Do you actually have spark or not? Sometimes it is very tough to see. Have you tried checking it at night?
You may also have a fuel issue...as in none. What is the fuel pressure in the system while cranking?

If it is a no spark issue still, you said you swapped the CDI.

Did you reinstall the ground wires correctly?

There should be the cdi ground wire, the solenoid ground, and the elec box ground jumper wire all tied together.

Then make sure the voltage regulator is securely screwed to the grounding block on the other side of the elec box halves.

Was there ever water inside the elec box? I know you said it was dry, but if there was water, the bottom of the circuit board may be corroded.

Make sure the lanyard is installed.

Great suggestions, and I am amazed at the quick responses!

I double and triple checked the ground wires. I have the advantage of having a running one to compare to.

I don't think there ever water inside the elec box. I had it running and it died in the first 10 min on the water.

The lanyard is installed in fact I tried by-passing the switch. That is what it acts like though.

There is definitely no spark. I just checked it in the dark!

I haven't been concerned about the fuel or compression since there is no spark. I did check compression on them last year and it was 115 or so on all.

Remove the spark plug caps, cut the wires 1/4 inch and then check for spark again.
If you have spark, screw the boots into the newly trimmed wires and have a good time.
If you still have no spark and swapped out the CDI's then it's time to share you readings of the stator.
It's pretty rare that a stator goes out on a 750 but you never know...

could be a bad ground between the stator plate and engine

The lanyard switch kills spark when it grounds the Black/Yellow wire.

Disconnect the Black/Yellow wire to the CDI. Check for spark.

    And keep that battery charged!
A weak battery will just complicate the diagnostics!
