    1200 RPM's

What rpm's are you guys seeing with your 1200 "s ?
I had a new to me '01 SLX out Friday. 1st run (cool ) it hit 6970 !
Warmed up it ran 6930-40,but only 58-59 mph gps.( not sure about the gps accurousy) I know what you're gonna say-worn impeller.
I looked at the impeller today, .015 inch clearance. Factory # ----707 , 7.0 Nu-jet impeller. Not exacttly throw out specs yet. I'll be trying a new 7.0 Nu-jet soon, just curious what other people see for RPM's.

I don't know what rpm mine runs since my mfd doesn't work, but with stock grate, ride plate and impeller(202) only things not stock is a 6* wedge and boyesen reeds, it runs about 62.7 on gps with slight chop. It was coming unhooked quite a bit. I just put r&d short wing on and plan on trying it again today. I wish my mfd worked so i could see what rpm. BTW i weigh about 225 so i'm sure that doesn't help anything. Once i get a working mfd i can let you know what rpm it runs, but i'm sure someone will chime in before that.

Optimum rpm for a stock boat is 6650-6700rpms. If you are at 6900+ then you can prop up and gain some more top end speed. 62-63 mph is normal for a stock SLX.

    prop

the prop may have been repitched.the rpms are 200-270 too high.300 rpms converted into foward thrust would add about 3 mph 59+3=62 mph would be right.check all the leading edges of the stator as well as a rock may have found its way thru and dinged up the edges

Well with the short wing today she ran 63.3 on the gps max mph. I think it actually clicked a little higher once or twice, but my gps max mph was at 218mph so it didn't record it. Must've still been set from my previous speed runs. Not trying to hijack your thread or anything Casey, just giving you a comparison mph wise. It'll be nice to get a working mfd to see where i'm at with rpm. Hopefully SOON.

Thankyou everyone for the reply's. They all make sence, the impeller is close to the service limit ( .020") gaining afew rpm,the stator does have a few nicks ( from rocks more like gravel ,no big dents) that could be giving me extra rpm.
It is stock and at 6900 it sounded crazy .

    Thanks again

Casey, i had mine out today and i threw in my old mfd out of my 1050 and it's right between 6650 and 6700rpm just like 32degh20 said. It'll start out at 6640/6650 and on a long pull it'll climb to 6700. Just thought i'd update you on this.

Apparently SBT's impeller refurbish/refinish service produces a nice result for a rather low price.

Mine might actually do that too. I've got a little ripple today and i know the air isn't that great around here this weekend. I was out by my buddy that races his snowmobile on the water yesterday and he has a RAD guage.(relative air density) It was around 85-86 where it's normally over 90. His sled was down on rpm too yesterday.
