Take your ski out of the water, Before the storm!

    Hello All,

First post, I have been checking out the forum for a few weeks, pretty cool stuff! Anyway, I wanted to share a project we have been working on for little while.

A good friend of ours had his ski get away from the dock in a storm and go for a heck of a ride down river. The ski took a few bumps and bruises. LOL. We are finishing up the hull work and getting ready for prime. It was a bit of a challenge, but not that big a deal. These pics are before we touched the hull. I will upload some progress and current photos when I get to the shop later today or tomorrow. I only had the before pics on my flash stick.

    Thanks, enjoy the pics,
    Robert

ENJOY? That's painful to look at! Ouch!

Good luck on the project, I'd like to see the progress pics. That's a hell of a repair there! Did you consider just buying another hull?

    What river? Where ya from?

We were told you can not buy a new hull, did not want to deal with used, so repair was the only option. One of my partners is a veteran shipwright, and at his advice, we did not need one anyway. It let lose in South Jersey, as in NJ. We are in North Jersey.

Welcome to GH... Lots of NJ people popping up on here lately! Just out of curiosity what did you use to repair the hull?

I am anxious to get over to the shop and upload the other photos. Just stuck at the house, waiting for the dam Fios Guy! It is actually coming along great! Greg or GZ, is no joke when it come to his craft. He knows his stuff about composites, weaves, resins, etc. better then anyone I know. The hull is really getting their, just about ready for prime. We are all very confident it will hold up to whatever a rider can throw at it.

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Inkaddict,
We used wood glue, the waterproof kind! LOL. I hate to tease, but, I would have to touch base with Greg on the issue of materials used. Frankly, he knows the data better, but I know he can be protective of “how” he gets things done. I will touch base with him later today, and see if he wants to open his magic cabinet. In the end, I do know it comes down to material compatibility, and most importantly experience. Which you guys all ready know!

    Later,
    Robert

Good luck with this project, where in NJ are you?

I don’t want to violate any forum rules, with our specific location. We are in the Fairfield NJ area, about 20 minutes from the Holland tunnel or GWB.

    Thanks,
    Robert
