    Suggestions, Place to Stay and Jet Ski in Keys

    We would like to tow our skis down from the Sarasota area. Any suggestions on where to stay in the keys? Need to be able to launch and back wash at the end of the day. Most interesting ride area available? Reef area might be nice. Thanks in advance in for your suggestions.

    Welcome to the forum..

    Acouple questions;

    What key are you going to?

    Are you intrested in a resort or cottage style lodging?

    do you want to be on the gulfside or the atlantic?

    do you want a onsite ramp?

    If you answer these questions we can hook you right up

    We are open to suggestions

    We would like to locate where the most interesting riding is. Onsite launching would be fantastic. We are flexible at this point. Any key will do.

    The issue with many of the hotels with onsite ramps is finding one that's jet ski friendly. Many of them don't even want skis parked on the property. I've stayed at Suggler's Cover in Islamorada a couple times. It's not fancy, but they have a ramp with a hose for flushing your ski, are reasonably priced(~$120/night now...$70/night Sept-Dec) and most importantly they have a bar. They will also negotiate price if you stay multiple nights or book mutiple rooms. I stayed at Pines & Palms last year, which is also on Ilsmorada with a ramp, but on the Atlantic side. It was a nice place, but their on-season rates were a little steap when I called a few weeks ago.

    The Keys are a chain of islands 100 miles long. If you want stuff to do other than ride ski's, staying closer to Key West is your best bet. The rest of the Keys is pretty much done by 10pm. I can only comment on riding in the Upper Keys, never ridden the Lower Keys.

    +1 what Ian said.

    I'm in Key Largo right now and am LOVING it. There are plenty of bays for wide open riding and site seeing, and if you take one of the cut throughs towards the ocean side, you will most likely end up in mangroves and channels that are pretty cool also. HAVE A GPS handy just in case. We spent a few hours in the mangroves the other days - awesome. Noone else around....watch the trees though. I ended up in them twice...
