    Jetmate!

    Hi,

I know this isn't a Polaris, but it seems many of us are lovers of unusual, orphaned craft. This fits those categories!

I picked up a '91 Jetmate as something for my younger sons to ride; NYS law requires PWC operators to be 14, but boat operators 10 with boater safety.

The motor was actually in very good condition considering it was completely full of water! I mean full, as in I unbolted the carb and water came out of the bottom of the carb....

Pistons spec'd out new, ring gap new, a light hone and bores were perfect. Surprising.

Big 'ol hole in the bottom from the previous owner's trailer. Nothing some instant foam and 6 layers of fiberglass and epoxy can't fix!

A 44sbn carb with Westcoast intake picked up 2mph, we're almost up to 30 now! And I thought the SL650 was slow....

What engine is in it? I'd be tempted to throw a 1200 polaris in it.

That thing is VERY small. A 1200 would be insane. I wouldn't ride in it.

But a guy has one at our party cove, I would love to get my hands on one. They look pretty simple.

    And, nice job!

Damn, a 1200! K447 and I were discussing a FICHT 700, though. I was loosely considering a 650 Polaris just because I've got one sitting under my workbench, but that wouldn't be much of an improvement.

It's got a Kawi 650 motor in it, and it's sad. Won't even get on plane with 2 adults in it, unless the adult in the back gets up and walks forward for a moment. And my motor is putting out more than stock.....

The obvious swap is for a Kawi 750 motor in it, the base plate is the same, so basically no issues switching over. Even better, the SXR800 top end fits on that motor, too!

Looks like a fiberglass bath tub.

The people at the party in the background are like, "what the F...???"

I say put an Octane engine in it Delagem.
