    need electric box for 1996 slt 700

    Does anyone have an electric box or CDI for a 1996 Polaris slt 700? I just bought the ski but it has no spark. Thanks for any help

    Have you checked the battery volts while cranking ?
    Have you tested the stator?
    What is the part # on the CDI ? If it is the old style CDI,is the small black wire connected to the negative battery post ?

    There is an electrical box on E-bay

    It is unlikely you need the entire electrical box.

    There is some diagnostics you should cover before you start buying parts.

    Click below for the service manual, and click the second link to get you started with the diagnostics.

    The number one reason for no spark, by far, is a weak battery. Even if the battery seems strong, it may not be strong enough.

    Put a multi-meter on the battery, and measure the volts while the engine is cranking, with the spark plugs in place. The voltage must be over 10.6 volts while cranking, or you will not have spark.

    Part Number is 105 552.02

    The part # is PVL 105 552.02. I am not sure if this is the old or new CDI. Thanks for the advise i will check a couple of wiring options to help determine the problem

    How do you check the stator?

    Is there a test for the stator without taking it apart?

    That sounds like the original 1996 CDI part number.

    That will be the old style CDI.
    The reason I asked,is,there needs to be a small black wire that bolts down to the negative batt terminal along with the larger batt cable.
    This wire grounds the entire electrical box.

    I tried the suggestion but still no spark, So i suppose I need a new CDI. Any other suggestions? thanks for all the help so far, I am new at this.

    What did you try?

    If you want to shortcut the diagnostics, you can just purchase the Ignition System Update Kit.

    Apparently the better choice for all 1996-1999 two cylinder engines is the Hurricane Update Kit 2873022.
    Kit comes with new design CDI, new design stator, new design ignition coils and plug wires.

    Available from these Polaris OEM sources, among others.
