    2008 GTI SE annoying beeping

    Hi, I own a 2008 GTI SE 155. After about 15 minutes of riding, the lake temperature sensor will stop working and the speedo spazzes out (showing a speed that i am not going, i.e 35 when i am going 2)
    and there is a loud beep similar to the one when you first put the key in.
    I first thought it was my key (btw both keys are programmed to both jet skies) so i tried the other key, still same problem.
    And this beep will occur randomly while i am riding.
    Has anybody had this happen to their jet ski and what are the possible remedies? Thanks

    Patrick

    Well, since both the speedo and lake temp sensor are one unit, it sounds like that unit might have crapped out. I'm not sure why the beeping happens, could be an electrical problem. It's still under warranty, so I'd take it in, but what and see what others say.

    Ok. It must be the instrument panel or something on the GTI because on my RXP it works just fine.
    Anybody else have an idea what this problem is?

    that sounds like what was happenig to the gtx in my shop..that one needs an new ECU. I'd check the battery and regulator first. get a cheapo digital voltmeter, run the leads to the battery and velcro to the glovebox. Observe volate levels. Make swag based on what you see.

    UPDATE: Took the ski to the dealer.. Dealer replaced the instrument panel under warranty. Put the ski in the water about 10 minutes ago and drove it to my house (3-4 minute ride from launch). One minute from my house and i noticed the lake temperature sensor looked like it was about to cut out, the same thing that happened before it beeped. Sure enough, when i was about to drive it up onto the lift, she beeped and the lake temperature sensor went out and so did the speedo. Oh well, another trip to the dealer.

    the dealer didn't check themselves?

    <ouch>

    instrumentation is one of the keys to finding this problem, my previous suggestions are still sounding good...I'd have a go thru on the battery system and give the engine grounds a look see as well. not the cluster it appears.

    Apparently they did, but I'm guessing for only a minute. I mean, I wouldnt mind if they take it out riding for an hour, as long as they get the problem fixed thats all that matters.
    And thank you for the advice, I will go check the grounds when I get home.
