    No brake lights or signals

    Hi All,

Up until recently my trailer lights were working well (installed them last summer). Then I began noticing that the brake lights and turn signals would intermittently work. When I would move the wiring harness coming from the SUV the lights would flicker, so I spliced a new harness on there. Now I get only running lights and the left bulb has both filaments lit up w/o the brakes being on. I double checked the ground, both bulbs and wiring and all looks ok. I had the hitch and wiring on the SUV installed at U-Haul, although I may have voided my warranty by taking off the orginal 4 pin harness. Any ideas? The good thing is it is a single PWC trailer and you can easily see my brake lights and turn signals on the SUV, but I'd like to get this taken care of ASAP.

    Thanks

I would test the individual terminals in the wiring coming from your tow vehicle to ensure they are working properly... this will determine if your problem lies in the vehicle or the trailer, then you can begin tracking down the culprit.

It sounds as though you may have crossed/mixed up a wire when you spliced in that new harness.

I checked all connections and am getting power for running lights all the way up to where the wires from the harness connect into the tail lights. I am also getting a volt drop and increase when I have my trun signals on. I replaced both bulbs, what else could be wrong??

I agree. Check your grounds. check your fuses. Make sure the bulb connections are clean as well.
