    Prop Madness - WTF?

Okay, did some decent mods and still seeing no benefit. Ski did 65 MPH bone stock. Did mods in sig and these results:
    15/21 Solas 4-blade = 7,400 RPM and 65 MPH
Stock prop = 8,060 RPM and 65 MPH
    Skat 13/18 3-Blade = 7,800 RPM and 63 MPH

I can't figure this out. THe holeshot on the skat is underwhelming. Maybe go to a 4-Blade 14/17? Putting stock back in for now.

    thx

You dont have enough power to push them steep of pitch props. You want your RPM's around 8100. IMO go with something like a 14/19 4 blade solas.

I don't have enough for a 13/18? I know the 15/21 was too steep, but a 13/18 is too steep too? If I had more power, I would just get back to 65MPH - same as bone stock. That's the part that doesn't make any sense.

you don't have enough power on that hull to pull a 15/21. you need alt of pitch taken out of prop or put the 14/17 on and add pitch . I would not worry about your top speed on 3 blade, as io don't think a 3 blade will every be as fast top end on that hull. you, this can take some pitch out of 3 blade and bring rpm up and speed.

That grate is scrubbing speed. Sure it'll help you stay hooked up in chop.....without more ponies it's too much drag...on the flat. With a rear air set up you'd need a tweeked 14/19.

Something's still off though......you should be screaming all over the limiter.

always remember that a 3 blade is slower then a 4 blade but has better acceleration. Also the pitch of a 3 blade is much different then the pitch of a 4 blade and they cant be compared. Riva Stage 3 3 blade props are 15/19 yet the 4 blade is 15/20.

Until you get your RPM's up your going to be down on speed.

    Ian,
Put the stock grate on & leave the 13/18 in there. You should pick up another 100-150 rpm or so & a few mph. The 3 blade pull will be there! You're stuffing the pump too much with that grate. It's not a big deal to take out 1mm on the trailing edge to get your R's right. Are you gonna be riding tomorrow? Call me, i'll be there around 10am on the water.

For the record, he thought he was getting a 14/19 4 blade but was given a 15/21, so he didn't get it knowingly.

Since he's an ocean rider I think he's looking for acceleration/hookup over top speed.

    15/20 is a stage 2 prop.

Yeah I know Jim... I was talking as an example of the fact that you cant compare the pitch's between 3 blade and 4 blade props.
