base timing on 1995 slt 750

Hi, guys. I'm just about to replace the stator on this ski, and I have been unable to locate information on how to set the base timing. All of the information in the service manual talks about checking the timing at 3000 rpm. I haven't been able to find anything regarding where to set the stator for initial startup. I noticed that there are some marks on the flywheel, in 2 groups of 3, which would seem to correspond to the pointer cast into the stator cover. What do these marks represent as far as ignition.? Any tips on installing the stator so the timing is right would be appreciated. I don't want to start this thing up and have to pull the flywheel to adjust the timing if possible. any help would be appreciated.

Thank you. I was looking in the engine electrical section. I didn't think to look in the engine assembly section.
