    Pump shoes proper position?

I have removed my pump shoe and cleaned everything up,almost ready to reseal it,i have read all the how to threads on this but i cant seem to find anything that explains the proper position!!!
Do you slide it all the way back? foward? ???????
i remember when i sealed it the first time there is so much sealant ooozing out around it it really hard to tell if you have it straight and centered! is there a rule of thumb procedure to do this?

What i found to work the best is slide all the way back and look at side to side before tightening it and center it.

From what I understand, there are different opinions on what needs to be done with the shoe. Some move it forward to reduce a buck. Some mill the mounting surface .050" in a search for more speed. But most install it all the way back as far as possible, centered, and tight to the hull. Make sure nothing is keeping it from being recessed into the hull (PPK pieces). Think back and up. When done, it should be recessed into the hull about .070" minimum, at least thats where most end up. When I do mine, I remove the pump, impeller and shaft so I can look into the tunnel from behind and see whats up with the ramp and how it matches the tunnel. Good luck!
